I switched my full attention into cybersecurity early, and most of my time outside coursework goes into hands-on labs rather than slides — SOC simulations on LetsDefend, room-based exercises on TryHackMe, and building my own tools instead of only reading other people's writeups.
What I'm best at is the unglamorous part of security work: reading a log line carefully enough to know whether it's noise or the start of something, and writing it down clearly enough that someone else doesn't have to re-investigate it.
I'm currently in my final year, looking for opportunities on SOC operations, threat detection, or security engineering teams where I can keep doing exactly that.
